I love chopping my vegetables on a chopping board and don’t mind peeling onions. People who have  thermomix,  love the  thermomix for many reasons. I love thermomix for many reasons too. One of them is cooking quinoa.You could adjust the times for cooking, for soft fluffy texture or grainy texture .
200 g red, white or mixed organic quinoa
700 ml water
1/2 tsp salt
1to 2 tsp cooking oil

1. Rinse quinoa 3-4 times, rub and squeeze quinoa with your fingers. Drain quinoa in a strainer. Do not use thermomix basket because quinoa grains are small enough to leak from the basket holes.
2. Place the quinoa in a bowl,  cover with water. Let it stand for 15 – 30 minutes.
One of my friends complains,when cooking quinoa in TM basket, some of the grain is left in the TM bowl. Here is the solution for that.

3. Cut some baking paper, enough to cover around the TM basket. Rinse baking paper under tap water then crumple the paper, cover the TM basket around the edge with crumpled paper (see the picture below).
4. Place the arranged  TM basket over the TM bowl. Put quinoa into basket and 700 ml water (including the soaked water from quinoa).

5.Place oil and salt on top of the quinoa. Cover with MC and cook for varoma /  20  minutes / speed 2.
Hints & Tips;

Leftover cooked quinoa can be placed in an airtight container or a ziplock bag and kept in a refrigerator for 3 to 5 days, or keep in freezer for up to a month.

Before you soak or cook your quinoa please wash at least 3 to 4 times. Read the instructions on the package. Grain has some bitterness too.

  1. I found I could wash it properly in the Thermomix bowl on interval for about 30-60 seconds. Also, it didn't cook well when I didn't trim back the baking paper properly to let plenty of steam in.
